Top notch entertainment, including the popular Glengarry Bhoys, Seamus Kennedy and Blackwater will be performing in the covered Festival Tent. Other musical entertainment includes Irish Thunder, MacGregor, and Bucks Caledonian Pipe and Drum Bands, the popular Celtic Martins, Carl Peterson, and new to the festival, Melinda Crawford, the U.S. National Scottish Fiddle Champion, who will be both performing and conducting a Scottish fiddle workshop for attendees who bring their own fiddles.

Independence Seaport Museum is hosting the 3rd annual Seaport Parade of Lights on the Delaware River Saturday, December 15. The festivities begin at 3:00 p.m. with carolers performing holiday favorites and Santa greeting visitors with candy canes. East Passyunk Avenue Business Improvement District (EPA) is revving up for the 7th Annual Car Show and Street Festival on Sunday, July 29, 2012, from Noon to 5:00pm, on EPA between Broad and Dickinson streets.  More than 140 cars, motorcycles and trucks are expected to compete for Best of Show and other top honors.  The accompanying street festival will feature live music, circus performances, vendors, kid's activities and the Bang! Boom! CRAFT! Show.  EPA's award-winning restaurants will serve up special street food and summertime drinks.  Admission is FREE for attendees and $15 for cars.  The rain date is Sunday, August 5, 2012.

The Friends of Graeme Park are again gearing up for what promises to be the biggest and best Celtic Heritage Festival to date. According to Beth MacCausland, president of the Friends of Graeme Park and chairperson of the event, “we’re introducing new entertainment this year and a beer tent, and bringing back Highland athletics and Border collie demonstrations. In recent years, the event had turned into more of a music festival, and we wanted to showcase the many more aspects that make up the rich heritage of the Celts.”

Celebrate Flag Day in the birthplace of Old Glory with a week of festivities at the Betsy Ross House this June.  Flag Festival 2012  kicks-off the start of National Flag Week on Sunday, June 10 with a patriotic ceremony and flag retirement and continues right through Stars & Stripes Saturday on June 16, a daylong event that harkens back to the first Flag Day celebrations held at the House in the 1890s.  The fifth annual event will pay tribute to our national standard, and continue the tradition of Flag Day celebrations that began here more than 100 years ago, and resumed with the first modern Flag Festival in 2008.

Morris Arboretum's Garden Railway Display Opens this Saturday, May 26! Storytime magic will be around very bend of the rails this season! Discover the sea-shell encrusted castle of Hans Christian Anderson's tucked inside a curve of one of the fifteen rail lines. Around the bend from another era, the humble houses of The Three Little Pigs can be found, a tale first told by Joseph Jacobs in 1890. And nestled in the woods beyond the trestle bridge, you just might find Charles Perrault's "Sleeping Beauty's Castle," covered with forbidding brambles and thorns.

If you are looking for another family outing before the summer ends, definitely check out minor league baseball.  Ticket prices and dining are reasonable, promotions are abundant and nearly all seats provide a great view of the game and there is plenty of entertainment for kids between innings and along the concourses.
