A Brandywine Christmas
November 26 - January 9
The museum celebrates the season with fabulous holiday displays including an extensive O-gauge model railroad, an elaborate Victorian dollhouse and thousands of whimsical "critter" ornaments on holiday trees.   A Brandywine Christmas is supported by Otto’s BMW, Herr Foods, Inc., The Snelling Group at Merrill Lynch, and The Frelinghuysen Foundation. Due to the large number of visitors during the busy holiday season, the museum regrets that it cannot accommodate baby strollers. www.brandywinemuseum.org


Gingerbread House Competition & Display:  Lahaska, PA

2010 Christmas Festival:  Lahaska, PA

Annual Holiday Open House at John James Audubon Center at Mill Grove

A host of free, family friendly activities will be featured in the John James Audubon Center’s historic house museum during the Center’s Annual Holiday Open House.  Fun and unique ‘teasel critters’ are tucked into the festive decorations found on all three floors of the museum, awaiting discovery by children participating in the Scavenger Hunt.  The usual admission fee is waived for the day.  The historic home will continue to be decorated throught the month of December.

A Reindeer Guide for Kids at Green Lane Park:  Deep Creek Pavilion, PA December 5 at 3PM
Listen for the prancing and pawing of each little hoof on the moss-covered roof of our beautiful stone pavilion.  Learn about the reindeer of the north with a story, craft, game and winter walk to find reindeer food.  A roaring fire and cocoa after our walk will complete the holiday atmosphere.

Pennypacker Mills’ Victorian Christmas Open House:  Schwenksville, PA

A Bit of Magic!  There is aniticipation in the air as you walk the pathway to the Mills this very night.  Santa is waiting to hear your Christmas wishes, the soft sounds of a bell choir are beckoning you to enter this special home and the magic of the season begins with a glimpse of Christmas in 1900!  See living historians in period clothing throughout the mansion, greet our servant at the front door, and hear our interpreters as they share what Christmas was like for the Pennypacker family.  See Clear Toy Candy demonstrations from 2-5PM only.  Visiti our Museum Shop for unique Christmas gifts, ornaments, clear toy candy and more!  All ages, fee $2 per person suggested donation.


Holiday Luminaria/Locktender’s Open House

Lock 60 at the Schuylkill Canal Park
Don’t miss the most spectacular light show of the holiday season, hundreds of luminary cancels lining the towpath up to the Locktender’s House.  Enjoy the joyful music played by Meadowlark and visit with Santa Claus between 6:30-7:30PM with your little ones.  Partake in holiday treats and hot cider and join in with SCA as we toast our friends with best wishes for a safe and happy holiday season.  All ages, free, donations gladly accepted.  The Luminaria is cancelled only if there is a steady downpour of rain. http://historicsites.montcopa.org
