Friday, April 26 is National Pretzel Day! This was first established ten years ago by then Governor Ed Rendell to recognize the impact pretzels have had on our local economy, history (and perhaps our diets). It is said that Philadelphian's eat 12 times more pretzels than the national average! What's not to love about a soft, chewy salted pretzel hot from the oven?
In celebration, Philly Soft Pretzel Factory locations will be giving away one free pretzel per customer (no purchase necessary). In addition, if you are one of the first 100 visitors at any of their stores on April 26, you will receive a card for one free pretzel every day in the month of May! For opening hours at a location near you, check their website.
Did you know that our city even has a park named after the famous snack food? That's right, Pretzel Park in Manayunk is located at 4300 Silverwood Street, one block above Main Street. There is play equipment, a dog park and events hosted there year round. Visit www.friendsofpretzelpark.org for more information.
