NEA’s national reading celebration takes place each year on or near March 2, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! This year’s event will showcase "The Cat in the Hat."
We at PlaygroundBuzz have also compiled a list of local events celebrating this classic book and the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Celebrate a love of reading with your child and explore some of these fun Philadelphia-area activities:
March 1 -
Doylestown Bookshop's evening event will include a Dr. Seuss themed music, storytelling and crafts.
March 2 -
Springfield Mall will be celebrating Dr. Seuss with storytime and activities starting at 10am.
March 2 -
Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown will have character appearances, craft stations and a book fair.

Pottery Barn Kids in King of Prussia celebrates Dr. Seuss with special storytime and crafts.

Harleysville Books will hold two Dr. Seuss storytimes, 11am and 1pm. Tickets required.

Barnes & Noble stores will have a Cat in the Hat storytime, activities and treats at 11am. Check their site for your local store.
March 16 -
Barnes & Noble Plymouth Meeting will hold their Cat in the Hat event.
