The Historical Society of Montgomery County is offering an “Introduction to Genealogy: Uncovering Your Past” workshop presented by Rose Brown, Genealogist and former Society librarian. The four-week workshop, which will include basic research tips for finding family, will run four consecutive Tuesdays, May 21, through June 11, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Seating is limited, therefore, pre-registration is required. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. There is a non-refundable materials fee of $7.50 for Society members and $10 for non-members. The workshop will be held in the meeting room of Society Headquarters, 1654 DeKalb Street, Norristown, PA. The garden is ready for all of the little hands to get busy digging, sowing seeds and watering the tender little seedlings that will soon emerge. Children will learn about vegetables, flowers and insects that live in the garden. Each week we will explore a new theme through hands-on activities, crafts, games and stories that help develop and deepen your child's connection with nature. We will also enjoy sampling the delicious vegetables from the spring garden. Our small class sizes ensure that each child can explore and learn at their own pace and gives us the opportunity to adapt activities to the children's interests. For children ages 3 to 6. Participants of all ages can make unique hand puppets using fabric, paint, wood and other materials. During the workshop, participants can work with a wood turner to create a wooden nose for their puppet. Supplies are included. The workshop will be led by Artist and Education Coordinator Rachel Bliss and sewing instructor Heather Harris from Handcraft Workshop, and it will also be available on June 15 from 12-4 PM.
